Hot offers on top waveboards
Caloundra City Sailboards are currently offering red-hot deals on Exocet’s acclaimed “U-Surf” and “Kona Surf” waveboards.
Both the 76lt and 84lt “U-Surf’s” are proven test-winners and perhaps the closest thing you’ll find (in a production model) to a true surfboard feel.
And with surging petrol prices set to push up prices on new season’s kit the $1,599 pricepoint speaks volumes!
Those looking for a good light-wind alternative should consider the “Kona Surf” which has now been marked down to only $1,650.

NXS Voodoo 110 – Custom Freestyle
With all of the design aspects you would expect from a modern day freestyle board, the Voodoo gives you that little bit more. With the beveled tail for reverse slides, flat nose rocker to maintain speed during reverse manouvres and the wide flat control deck for stability.
You also get a board that provides diversity. The Voodoo is as comfortable on the wave as it is sliding about, making it a great all-rounder for those who like to sail purely for the sake of it. The Voodoo feels stable under foot and light in the air. Just what you need to get out there!

Maui Ultra Fins
According to designer Dietrich “Rick” Hanke his new Maui Ultra Fins offer extremely good grip, no spin-out, extraordinary upwind performance, and speed to burn.
Hanke, an Aeronautical Engineer by profession, used the latest airflow modelling technology to develop the distinctive MUF templates and claims the new airfoil and elliptical outline of the fins significantly reduces drag.
And with such overwhelmingly positive feedback from his team of “test pilots” on Maui “Rick” has begun production of an eight model range (including wave, slalom, freestyle, and speed fins).

New 2008 Turf Dogs – The Ultimate in Land Windsurfing
Land windsurfing or ‘dirt’ windsurfing as it is often known has been making a come back in recent years, largely due to a UK based company called TurfDog, which produces land windsurf boards with a ‘free’ front end due to the use of wheels on the front that are able to swivel. TurfDog has now released new updates of their Freemove and Freestlye Pro models.
These new boards feature a lighter but stiffer deck and the Freemove model has improved carving and blasting performance. The boards are available in Australia and New Zealand if purchased direct from the TurfDog website, www.turf-dog.com.
The Windsurfing Movie
The Windsurfing Movie represents a watershed in windsurfing video in that it aims to appeal to both windsurfers and non-windsurfers alike.
Well-written and storyboarded by former PWA sailor Jace Panebianco the movie uses the “life stories” of five top sailors - Robby Naish, Jason Polakow, Levi Siver, Kai Lenny, and Josh Angulo - to tell the tale of windsurfing’s birth and evolution.
Film-maker Johnny Desescare’s stunning imagery is complemented by a great soundtrack that includes the Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, and Wolfmother among others. And it certainly is a nice change to watch a windsurfing video that doesn’t feature the usual Euro-disco playlist.
But it’s the footage itself that really sets TWM apart from the pack and has seen it getting an absolute thrashing on my DVD player.
The end credits include some very funny outtakes and I can’t help but think Kai Katchadourian bears a striking resemblance to Mr Bean…
Bonus features include trips to the Turks & Caicos and Sumbawa.
The Windsurfing Movie is a five star offering from Poor Boyz Productions – very highly recommended

Moments
“Moments” is the latest release from Free Your Productions and features JP/Pryde team riders Alex Mussolini and Lars Petersen.
The DVD opens with a bio/profile of Mussolini and includes some great vision of the young Spaniard in action at Cabo Verde and on Maui.
Then it’s over to Petersen for a guided tour of his adopted home break Klitmoller (aka “Cold Hawaii”). And the place certainly does seem to live up to its reputation, ie: looks bloody cold and seriously windy!
From the frigid waters of the North Sea it’s back to Maui for some insane vision from the JP team shoot, with a good mix of wave and freestyle footage.
Lars and his mates then score big time on a trip to Chile, with the Dane adding a few “Getaway” type travel tips to round out the segment.
Bonus extras include a Central American sojourn with Carine Camboulives. and Manu Bouvet, Peter Garzke ripping Diamond Head, and an insane Kona session at Ho’okipa that also includes Big Laird charging into a few boomers on his SUP.
Well shot and edited, Moments is a cross between the documentary-style of TWM and your more traditional travelogue-type vid – a quality offering from the crew at FYM.

Real World Waves: Pro Secrets – Onshore Wavesailing
Covering everything from board design, to sail cut, and launching tips, through to going for your first forward, RWW is a pretty comprehensive guidebook for those looking to get out into the waves.
By breaking the subject matter down into “modules” the producers are able to canvass virtually all of the variables at play when you’re sailing in the waves (specifically in onshore conditions).
Given the subject matter its little wonder that the bulk of the vision for the various chapters was shot at Pozo, Sylt, and Klitmoller, however, there’s also a good dose of cross-on wavesailing action from Maui.
A few funny outtakes finish off what is a well-rounded offering from Sam Ireland. And while the RWW doesn’t set out to re-invent the wheel (so to speak) it is a first-rate coaching/training DVD for novice and intermediate wavesailors alike.
Running time: 60 minutes.
